SF Links @ SF Jazz
KEYS TO WELLNESS CONCERT
This benefit concert presented by The San Francisco Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will continue SF Links' tradition of promoting Jazz as an American art form, a healing force and experience for wellness. This inter-generational event creates a unique opportunity for our families, friends and community, as jazz music in all its dimensions is a holistic way to communicate and relate with one another; speaking to our hearts and our souls.
The San Francisco Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, is pleased to announce its sixth biennial fundraiser concert, SFLINKS@SFJAZZ, which will take place Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 3pm. We continue our tradition of promoting jazz as an American art form, while furthering jazz music as a healing force and an experience for wellness.
We hope you will join us as a sponsor or purchase individual tickets for our concert, featuring SF Jazz Resident Artistic Director Marcus Shelby and the Marcus Shelby Orchestra, accompanied by talented vocalist Tiffany Austin. Together, they will present a special multimedia concert celebrating the accomplishments of iconic African American women throughout history and their call to freedom across the decades, as reflected in the work of the San Francisco Links. The Marcus Shelby Orchestra will perform original compositions and rearrangements of spirituals, freedom songs, rhythm and blues, along with visual displays honoring the lives of Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Phyllis Wheatly, Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Angela Davis, Nina Simone and more. This multi-part musical suite is inspired by the programming tenets of The Links, Incorporated – Health and Human Services, Services to Youth, National and International Trends, and the Arts.
We are incredibly fortunate to have this opportunity to host a private performance for supporters of the San Francisco Links. This exclusive and exciting event, with Bay Area radio personality, Miranda Wilson, as the Mistress of Ceremonies, will once again be held in the stunning SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco.
One of the highlights of this year’s event will be the presentation of the 2020 SFLinksConnect Awards to outstanding individuals who have championed our diverse San Francisco communities of color. Past honorees include London Breed, Mayor of San Francisco, Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, California Surgeon General and a pioneer in the field of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and Alicia Garza, co-founder of Black Lives Matter. In addition, 2020 is our inaugural recognition of SF STREAMers, celebrating STEM-engaged youth in the city.
We welcome your partnership with our committed members to make a positive impact in the communities we serve! Get your sponsorship or tickets today!
